Manchester United take on Premier League champions Manchester City after the international break.
It will be exciting to see how the Red Devils fare against the top-flight Sky Blues. Will they be able to stop Erling Haaland?
Manchester United’s results so far have been mixed. Erik ten Hag’s men lost the opening two league games of the season to Brighton and Brentford respectively and then bounced back, winning four PL games in a row. However, the Old Trafford side started their European season with a home defeat to Spanish side Real Sociedad and beat Sheriff in the Europa League just before the international break.
To stop Haaland United need their best central defense duo, Varane and Martinez, who have been brilliant so far. With Skipper Maguire in attendance, the backline was shaky.
So we can expect Varane and Martinez to play ahead of De Gea against Man City, and Dalot and Malacia should also start at full-back positions.
World-class Casemiro is yet to make his Premier League debut. The Brazilian international has had time to settle down since leaving Real Madrid and I think he should start against the Sky Blues. The Samba star could pair with Eriksen in midfield.
In attack, Fernandes is likely to keep the captain and his favorite number 10 in formation. On the flanks, players of the caliber of Sancho and Antony would start.
Ronaldo scored his first goal of the campaign in the last game against the Sheriff, but Rashford is the main one who primarily started and excelled in the Premier League. As such, the England international is likely to retain his position in the CF squad when the PL return from the international break.
Man Utd predicted lineup vs Man City: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Malacia; Casemiro, Eriksen; Antony, Fernandes, Sancho; Rashford.
