According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have “had conversations” with Kim Min-jae of Napoli regarding a summer transfer to Old Trafford.
Kim Min-jae will be signed by who?
Kim’s contract reportedly has a €56 million (£49 million) release clause that goes into effect in the summer. However, a number of teams are reportedly vying for his services, which may make it challenging to arrange a transfer.
Manchester City and Newcastle United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for the center-back, and the latter team has been sending scouts to observe his performances. Chelsea is reportedly interested in the player and the Blues are “ready to offer” a deal.
Romano has provided an update on Erik ten Hag’s pursuit following recent reports that Man United is now prepared to activate the defender’s release clause and offer him four times his current salary.
The transfer expert claimed that direct contact has already been made with the South Korean player in an interview with GiveMeSport, where he also clarified when the player’s release clause is expected to go into effect.
The release clause of Kim Min-jae is only effective during the first few days of July, the Italian said. Manchester United can’t move forward with that because it isn’t valid right now and it won’t be valid in June.
They are able to communicate with the player’s side and have conversations with them because they are interested.
Kim Min-jae: who is he?
The 26-year-old first began to establish himself at Fenerbahce last season, making 31 appearances in the Super Lig for the Turkish team. He excelled defensively, averaging the highest numbers in the team—2.3 interceptions and 4.1 clearances per game—while playing for Fenerbahce.
Since then, the 6 foot 3 colossus has flourished with Napoli, averaging a 7.24 Sofascore rating in the Serie A this season, the third-highest mark in the team, in large part because of his exceptional defensive skills.

The South Korean international leads the team in both aerials (2.8 per game) and interceptions (1.2 per game) won in Serie A this season, and his fourth-highest pass success rate demonstrates his confidence in possession.
Kim, described as “extraordinary” by teammate Khvicha Kvartskhelia, would be a great addition for Man United this summer, especially given his relatively low price tag. They should now move forward with contract negotiations.
