Journalist Dean Jones claims that Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez is “definitely” open to the idea of moving to Chelsea during the summer transfer window.

Does Chelsea want to bring Martinez on board?
The Blues are entering a crucial period in which Mauricio Pochettino must make the right acquisitions to make up for the disastrous campaign they had last year.

Given that Romelu Lukaku’s future is likely to lie outside of Stamford Bridge and that Kai Havertz is expected to join, Chelsea must sign a top-tier player in attack.

Following a standout season in which the £184,000 per week attacker scored 21 goals in Serie A and won the World Cup with Argentina, Martinez has been frequently linked with a move to west London in recent months.

Martinez is eager to join the Blues.
In an interview with Give Me Sport, Jones touted the prospect of Martinez joining Chelsea this summer, suggesting that the 25-year-old might find it appealing:

“Nobody has made any moves for Lautaro so far. However, there is still a perception at Chelsea that even if they sign Nicolas Jackson, another name will emerge at the top.

A spot opens up in that frontline as a result of the loss of [Kai] Havertz, [Pierre-Emerick] Aubameyang, and probably [Romelu] Lukaku. It will be interesting to see if they really trust [Armando] Broja or if they choose to go for that star power.

“Considering Lautaro’s history of playing at the highest level for Inter Milan and Argentina, he would be a good choice in that regard. He can be acquired during this window and has a respectable track record of reaching the 20-goal threshold. According to what my contacts say, he would be open to moving to the Premier League.

Martinez is the ideal candidate for Chelsea to sign this summer because he has the experience and talent to help the Blues advance significantly next season.

He has scored 21 goals in 48 appearances for Argentina, and his goal-scoring prowess speaks for itself. He possesses the technical skill, work ethic, and team spirit that Pochettino will undoubtedly want in the attack going forward.

Chelsea should make every effort to sign Martinez before the 2023–24 season begins because the fact that Lionel Messi called Martinez a “spectacular” player speaks volumes about his prowess as a footballer.
