According to renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea is close to finalising the signing of Brazilian youngster Angelo as soon as this week.
Who is Angelo, a target for Chelsea?
Despite still being so young, the Brazilian is currently playing for Santos and has already gained experience as a member of the team.
Unbelievably, Angelo has already made 129 appearances for Santos before he turns 19 years old. In that time, he has scored five goals and registered ten assists, demonstrating the quick progress he has made in such a short period of time.
However, it appears likely that he will leave his current club this summer, with Chelsea appearing to be the front-runners to sign him. After such a disastrous 2022–23 season at Stamford Bridge, Mauricio Pochettino has now officially begun his tenure as the Blues’ new manager. He will want to bring in the right players.
The latest information regarding Chelsea’s pursuit of Angelo is favourable for the Blues because it suggests that they may be getting close to a noteworthy piece of transfer business.

Chelsea acquiring Angelo?
Romano claimed on Twitter that the west Londoners are close to signing the Santos starlet, with a deal anticipated to be finalised by this week’s end once a medical is finished:
“Understand that Brazilian talent Angelo will visit England this week to undergo medical examinations before signing a six-year contract to join Chelsea. The necessary paperwork is in order, and Santos will be paid €15 million.
This is excellent news for Chelsea, and it is encouraging to see Pochettino keeping an eye out for players with long-term potential given that fellow Brazilian youngster Matheus Franca appears likely to follow him to Stamford Bridge.
Of course, the Blues must also sign players who are in or near their prime, but there hasn’t always been enough forward thinking at the club, which hasn’t always been a good thing.
Although Angelo is still very young, his over 100 appearances suggest that Pochettino could use him right away as a squad option. He has primarily played as a right winger but has also played in midfield, on the left side, and even as a centre forward in the past, demonstrating his versatility.
It is hoped that he will flourish working with better footballers than those at Santos on a daily basis, develop into a strong player who eventually claims one of the wide positions as his own, and become a star at Stamford Bridge in the process, much like a prime Willian did.
It appears as though a concerted effort is being made to fill the squad with young talent, as older players like Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, N’Golo Kante, Mateo Kovacic, Jorginho, Thiago Silva, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Cesar Azpilicueta have recently been added. Moises Caicedo is also increasingly likely to complete a transfer from Brighton to Chelsea before the 2023–24 season begins.
