Man Utd plans to announce a list of released players in the double digits at the end of season.

First-team players , Nemanja Matic, Paul Pogba, Juan Mata, Jesse Lingard, and Edinson Cavani, but also fourth-choice goalkeeper Lee Grant, are all out of contract next month.

Last year, Man United exercised the one-year option in Grant’s Mata’s, and Cavani’s, contracts, while Pogba and Lingard’s contracts were extended.

Matic chose not to apply his one-year extension option and confirmed his exit last month. The club initially stated that he had signed a deal until 2023.

Goalkeeper Ondrej Mastny, full-back Reece Devine, midfield players Charlie Wellens and Connor Stanley, and forwards D’Mani Mellor and Mateo Mejia are all out of contract at the academy level.

Mejia and Wellens, both 19, only have options on their contracts with Man United, but it is unclear whether either will be executed.

Devine completed this season on loan at St Johnstone in the Scottish Premiership and Walsall in Second Division, while Stanley spent time with Atlanta United’s second string and Mellor spent five months at Salford City.

Stanley already has found a new team to join in the summer, and final decisions on Mastny, Devine, and Mellor have yet to be made.

After just a season-long loan in the Scottish Premiership, Levitt, 21, is expected to be chosen Dundee United’s player of the year. The Wales international played in the European Championship last year, but his only appearance for United was just in the Europa League group stage loss to Astana in November 2019.

In 2020, the Man United academy’s duty of care to exiting players was widely praised, as they continued to allow them access to the club’s Carrington training facility. Man United also helps players find new clubs.

There is also uncertainty about whether United will exercise the one-year extension option in Dylan Levitt’s contract as he enters the final month of his contract.
