Ansu Fati, a forward for Barcelona, is expected to receive a €50 million bid from Arsenal this summer as the La Liga club looks to offload players.
Barcelona sees Fati as a player they can raise money for this summer despite his infrequent appearances for the team at Camp Nou this season.
Although the 20-year-old international from Spain scored three goals in their final two La Liga games of the season, the season was ultimately disappointing for him.
Fati is viewed as a player they can do without, despite his enormous potential, because Barcelona’s financial situation prevents them from completing the deals that Xavi wants before the summer transfer window.
According to a report published yesterday, Barcelona told Fati in a “meeting” over the weekend that he would either leave the team or not play next year.
Since the Gunners are willing to pay Fati’s high salary, Spanish publication Nacional now claims that Arsenal is “willing to put €50m on the table” to sign him.
Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, wants up to €80 million with “the idea of ending the transfer at around” €65 million; he has no intention of accepting that offer, though.
With the Catalan giants being huge supporters of both Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli, there is an additional option to include an Arsenal player in the negotiations.
Martinelli’s performances are characterised as “very irregular,” and they claim that he could “enter the operation,” but Odegaard is viewed as “non-transferable.”
If Arsenal wants to be a title contender again the following season, they must increase the depth of their squad in the offseason.
The legendary Tony Adams of the Arsenal has already said that this season is “as good as it gets for them” after the team came close to beating Manchester City for the title.
According to Adams, who spoke to The Sun, “Mikel Arteta worked wonders to get Arsenal into second place considering the players he had at his disposal.”
But if a manager significantly outperforms and raises a club’s expectations, there may be repercussions if the improvement level isn’t sustained the following season.
And if that takes place, he frequently leaves by Christmas.
The Arsenal legend continued, “I’m not in the least suggesting that the Gunners will let Arteta go, but I do worry that this might be the best thing that ever happens to them.
“No one anticipated them to finish so highly, but the drawback is: where do they go from here? The majority of this team has already reached its peak, as much as I’d like to sound like a doomsday prophet.
“I think many of them had their best season ever during that time. They won’t likely reach that level once more.
They won’t be able to compete with Manchester City the following season, and they will struggle to repeat as runners-up without making significant additions this summer.
City’s B team is superior to every Premier League team, and we anticipate that Newcastle, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea will all perform much better the following time around.
