Mason Mount told Chelsea that he wants to join Man United, sources have said.
According to sources who spoke to Football Insider, Man United is attempting to complete the signing of Mason Mount by the end of the week.
The Chelsea star has reached a personal agreement with United and informed the organisation where he has played his whole career that he wishes to depart this summer.
While a price between the two clubs has not yet been decided, talks between United and the Londoners are moving forward.
Chelsea initially requested £80 million, but they are now asking for close to £70 million to sell their academy product.
This site originally reported on Friday, 2 June, that Erik ten Hag’s team had reached a personal understanding with the midfielder while negotiating the amount with Chelsea.
The English international chose to sign with United over Liverpool for the upcoming season, according to Football Insider, which said on Saturday, June 3. Champions League play is a “big factor” in the choice.
Although Mount has interest from Liverpool as well, Man Utd has taken the lead in the pursuit of his services.
The 24-year-old is nearing the final year of his Stamford Bridge contract but has been unable to reach an extension deal with the organisation.
Due to his ambition to make as much as the team’s highest earners, especially his England colleague Reece James, Mount has struggled to reach an extension agreement with his present club.
Mount’s current weekly salary is £80,000, according to FBRef.
According to information provided to Football Insider, Mount will make roughly £200,000 per week at Old Trafford as they attempt to come to an arrangement before the end of the week.
