Arsenal may make a bid for Ferran Torres this month…

According to 90min transfer expert Graeme Bailey, who stated on a recent ‘Talking Transfers’ podcast:

“He’s a player Arsenal has admired for a long time, even before he left City. Mikel Arteta is well acquainted with this young man. I truly believe he is a perfect fit for Arsenal. Of all the players mentioned, I believe that under-the-radar Ferran Torres could be a fantastic signing for Arsenal.

“Keep an eye on this, this one could happen. It has a chance. Barca could loan him, so I believe Torres will be the one to whom Arsenal turns.”

According to transfer insider Dean Jones, “Ferran knows that Arsenal have wanted him for some time now, which suggests that he would fit in well into what they’re trying to build under Mikel Arteta.”

According to reports in Spain, the Gunners had a €30 million (£26 million) bid for the 22-year-old rejected some 18 months after he left Manchester City for FC Barcelona in a €55 million (£48 million) move.

He’s ideal for Arteta.
With Gabriel Jesus still out with a long-term knee injury, it makes sense for sporting director Edu Gaspar to look for alternatives for the rest of the season – one that, given their position in the Premier League and other domestic and European cup competitions, could end with silverware.

Arteta had left Pep Guardiola’s squad by the time Torres had left the Etihad Stadium, not that he played much at his age, but moves for the aforementioned Brazilian and Oleksandr Zinchenko suggest that this could be another move that pays dividends.

FBref compares his statistical profile to that of Phil Foden and Riyad Mahrez, both of whom the Spaniard coached at City, which bodes well for such a move.
