Even though there are rumours that Mikel Arteta wants to sign the Portuguese full-back for Arsenal, Arsenal enjoys a good working relationship with Joao Cancelo’s agents.
Last week, 90Min reported that Arteta believed Cancelo would be ideal for Arsenal, and The Telegraph also named him as a summer transfer target for the Gunners.
According to Fabrizio Romano on the House of Champions Podcast, Arsenal already has a good working relationship with the player’s agent, giving them an advantage in this competition.
Agent Romano shared what he knows about Cancelo, who is already close to joining Arsenal, and cost £28 million.
“In regards to Cancelo, what I believe happened was that Arsenal and his agents have a good working relationship, so during their conversations, Cancelo was brought up. What will transpire with Cancelo is still uncertain. At the end of the season, according to Tuchel, they must communicate. The discussion between Bayern and Man City will be important, according to Romano.
Difficult
Despite Arsenal’s proximity to Cancelo’s representatives, completing this deal will be challenging.
On the player’s side, the Gunners may be able to reach an agreement, but reaching an agreement with Manchester City may prove to be very challenging.
City won’t be in a rush to strengthen Arsenal. They made that error with Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus last summer, and it nearly cost them the championship this year.
City is on track to win the league, but Mikel Arteta’s team has presented a challenge. They won’t want to add to that difficulty by sending Cancelo to the Emirates next year.
