According to journalist Dean Jones, Mauricio Pochettino has already requested that Frank Lampard give “everyone a runout” in Chelsea’s final three games of the current campaign.
How are Lampard and Pochettino doing these days?
The Blues have finally found a new permanent manager to take over for next season with just three Premier League games remaining for them.
In fact, Pochettino will take over in June, so Lampard, the current interim manager, doesn’t really have much to play for.
To get the most out of his player, the Argentine will undoubtedly be making plans behind the scenes, and it appears he has already made one request.
Indeed, Pochettino has asked Lampard to rotate his team so he can better understand who specifically may be useful to him in the future, as Jones explained on the most recent episode of Chasing Green Arrows.
With Pochettino now ‘confirmed’ as Chelsea manager, he said: “Frank Lampard keeps switching up his lineup and his formation, and he wants Lampard to make sure he gives everyone a chance to play in these next two games so he can actually take a look at everyone.
“That’s the other factor to consider in this situation; Chelsea is figuratively preparing for the Pochettino era right now.
Pochettino wants to see them, and he probably even told him that, just so he can watch it and see how it plays out – particularly in a game like this against the best team in Europe.
In the most recent two transfer windows, how many players did Chelsea bring in?
Chelsea needs to win all three of their remaining games to have a chance of placing tenth, as they are currently 12th in the league.
They play the defending champions Manchester City away from home this weekend, which is concerning. Pochettino wants Lampard to switch things up because there isn’t really anything to play for.
After all, despite Premier League regulations only permitting a 25-man squad, Chelsea acquired 14 permanent senior players over the course of the previous two transfer windows, forcing former coach Graham Potter to train with as many as 40 players (via The Athletic).

The team’s next manager will undoubtedly be eager to reduce that number as soon as possible, and if Lampard complies with this request, he will receive a significant helping hand.
With all of this in mind, the upcoming weeks may bring about some unusual starting XIs.
