ARSENAL’s long-term goal At the conclusion of the current campaign, Marco Asensio’s contract with Real Madrid will expire.
Asensio moved to Real Madrid from Real Mallorca in 2014, making 250 appearances for the Blancos while amassing over 50 goals, three La Liga championships, and three Champions League trophies.
However, there has been a lot of talk regarding his future at the club and whether or not he is in Carlo Ancelotti’s long-term plans, which has made some top-tier teams aware of the situation.
It is no secret that Arsenal is a huge admirer of the player, and they have been connected with a move in each of the recent transfer windows. It was once thought that they would have a chance to sign the Spaniard towards the end of the current campaign.
Now – Spanish radio station Onda Cero reports that the Spain international will turn down the club’s offer to extend his contract.
Jorge Mendes, Asensio’s agent, has been in contact with Madrid since December, and the club has made an offer to extend his current contract. However, Asensio has apparently opted to leave the Santiago Bernabeu.
According to the rumours, Chelsea has contacted someone about a potential transaction.
There is no denying that Asensio is a phenomenally skilled midfielder and that he will be in high demand if he ever enters the market.
He is succeeding in every way at Madrid, winning trophies on an annual basis, but if he is not an integral part of the plans at the Bernabeu, it is time to move on.
