In regards to a potential transfer for defender Ousmane Diomande, Arsenal is said to have contacted Sporting CP.
What recent transfer news is there regarding Arsenal?
Following an outstanding 2022–23 Premier League season, it appears that the Gunners are working arduously behind the scenes to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s team this summer.
Declan Rice of West Ham is a top target for the team. According to reports, the England international and the Emirates Stadium have already verbally agreed upon the player’s personal terms.
Although the two clubs have yet to agree on a price, Jacob Steinberg claims that they are close to doing so and that it may even exceed £100 million when add-ons are taken into account.
If a deal in that price range is completed, Rice would thereby surpass all previous Arsenal record signings; however, it appears that the team still has room for more acquisitions.
Regarding Arsenal and Diomande in the previous 48 hours, Sport Witness relayed information from the Portuguese newspaper Record. They stated that talks between the Gunners and Juventus regarding a potential transfer have taken place, but that it is now “impossible” because Sporting has informed Diomande’s representatives that he is “locked in” at Lisbon.
The player does, however, have a €80 million (£68 million) release clause that will need to be triggered given Sporting’s stance on a sale, the report does add.

What is Ousmane Diomande’s name?
Diomande, who is only 19 years old, moved from FC Midtjylland to Sporting in January. The Ivorian has since made 17 appearances for his current employers across all leagues, including two against Arsenal in the Europa League.
As Sporting advanced on penalties, the center-back played the entire match at Emirates Stadium and, according to SofaScore, was the second-best outfield player for the visitors that night. Jacek Kulig, a talent scout, believes he is a future star in the making.
Rarely do you see a player with such superior ball-playing and pure defending abilities. Despite some tactical tweaks, I’m confident that this player will play for some of the world’s top teams. the characteristics of elite talent.
However, paying £68 million for a teenager along with a potential £100 million+ deal for Rice this summer may be viewed by Arsenal officials as being too much. However, in light of a recent approach and a stellar performance in north London back in March, it looks as though it could be one to watch over the summer.
