Paul Pogba of Man Utd could be on his way back to Juventus, with his representative set to meet with the Serie A club.
The 29-year-deal old’s at Old Trafford expires at the end of the season and he is highly doubtful to sign a new one, paving the way for his departure.
Juve are working hard to improve their squad after a disappointing season that saw them finish fourth in Serie A and exit the Champions League at the last-16 stage.
As per Fabrizio Romano, Pogba’s representatives will meet with Juventus on Monday to discuss the terms of a possible deal. Wage demands, however, are thought to be an issue, with Paris Saint – Germain also expressing interest in his signature.
Pogba has only made 27 appearances for United this season and has managed to score one goal in all competitions.
With a calf injury sustained in last month’s 4-0 loss to Liverpool, he has missed the Red Devils’ last four league games.
Since joining United in 2016, his performances have gradually deteriorated, and if he departs, the club will have finished outside the top four.
He has not won a trophy at Old Trafford since winning the Europa League and League Cup in his first season, and he has lost his starting spot.
A transfer to Juve, where he excelled under Massimiliano Allegri before joining United, may appeal to the Frenchman.
He won four Serie A titles and two Italian Cups with the Old Lady between 2012 and 2016. Meanwhile, he was instrumental in their run to the 2015 Champions League final.
Pogba admitted in March that he had not been “satisfied” at United in recent seasons.
‘You have to also be frank, these last five seasons really haven’t pleased me — at all,’ he said. We won’t win anything this year. “Whether it’s with Man Utd or another team, I would like to win trophies,” Pogba added.
‘With France, it’s simple: I play, and I play in my position — I understand my role, and I have the coach’s and the players’ trust.’ It’s normal to notice a difference at Man Utd because it’s difficult to be consistent when your position, team system, or (midfield) friends change frequently.’
