Jurrien Timber, an Arsenal substitute, made a stunning cameo during the team’s recent 5-0 victory over the MLS All-Stars in Washington, DC.

For Mikel Arteta’s team, who were supremely at ease for the majority of the game, goals from Gabriel Jesus, Leandro Trossard, Jorginho, Gabriel Martinelli, and Kai Havertz clinched the victory.

When Declan Rice entered the game in the second half, all eyes were on him, but Timber’s performance for Arsenal was perhaps much more spectacular.

As Arsenal defeats MLS All-Stars 5-0, Jurrien Timber excels.

Following Takehiro Tomiyasu and William Saliba’s injuries last season, Arsenal struggled and decided to enter the transfer market in search of a versatile defender.

Jurrien Timber at Ajax was instantly recognised as a top target for Arsenal because Arteta wanted someone like Ben White, who could play both center-half and right-back when necessary.

Following several weeks of discussions, Arsenal finally closed the transaction for £34 million (BBC) last Friday, and Gunners supporters are very pleased with the results.

Timber replaced William Saliba in the second half of the match against the MLS All-Stars. The 22-year-old was given the right-back position as White took the Frenchman’s spot in the centre of defence.

In that stance, Timber had a stunning appearance. He exhibited no fear whatsoever when driving with the ball, was composed when handling the ball, and was very astute in his attacking runs.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, another daring full-back at Arsenal, came to mind when we saw him.

Oleksandr Zinchenko, the modern

One of Arsenal’s top players from the previous year was Zinchenko.

Although he starts the game as left-back, he frequently cuts inside and plays as a central midfielder when in possession, which frees up the Gunners’ left-sided number eight to advance, as Granit Xhaka did so successfully last year.

Against the MLS All-Stars, Timber had a similar right side position. The Dutchman showed no fear as he charged forward from the centre, and on a few occasions, he was even seen in the number 10 position.

Timber is a fantastic player for Arsenal, and he has the potential to make an effect on the team similar to that of Zinchenko in the upcoming season and years.
