According to journalist Pete O’Rourke, Man Utd would send a “real signal of effort” by signing West Ham United prodigy Declan Rice this summer.
The Red Devils are about to embark on a new era, with Erik ten Hag taking over as manager at the end of the season, and it it seems the Dutchman wants Rice to be one of his first signings.
As per the Mail on Sunday, Man Utd will compete with rival Manchester City to entice Rice away from West Ham. Following the Red Devils’ failure to qualify for the Champions League, ten Hag is said to want to rebuild the team around the central midfielder.
However, doing business with West Ham will be difficult because the Hammers’ hierarchy has set a £150 million price tag on their prized asset. The east Londoners are likely to keep Rice, who has been defined as “world-class.” and have even offered him an eight-year deal worth £200,000 per week.
West Ham are in a position to negotiate ahead of the summer because the 23-year-old still has more than two years left on his £62,000- per-week contract, and his current club have the option of extending the agreement by a year. Rice clearly has a lot of confidence, as he described himself as feeling ‘unstoppable’ in the early stages of the campaign.
The 29-cap England international has every right to be proud of himself because, despite being in his early career, he has already been one of the first names on the team sheet for club and country.
