In order to sign South American winger Antony, Manchester United and Ajax formally concluded an agreement two days ago. There were pending personal and medical matters.
The Brazilian has now successfully finished his medical and signed a long-term contract with the Red Devils, making the signing official.
The 22-year-old has signed a five-year contract with Man Utd through 2027, with an additional year’s option.
Regarding compensation, Mirror Sport reports that the former Sao Paulo player will earn £200,000 a week, or $10.4 million annually.
John Murtough, the sporting director, said when the signing was completed:
“Antony is one of the most exciting young players in European football, and he perfectly fits the mold of the attacking, spirited club Erik is assembling.”
His eagerness to join Manchester United and be a part of a long-term project to return the team to the performance levels we all anticipate has really impressed us.
The two will work their magic at Old Trafford thanks to Ten Hag’s transport of Antony from Brazil to the Netherlands.
Under the Dutch manager’s supervision, the Samba star won two Eredivisie championships and last season, he directly assisted in over 20 goals for Ajax.
