Manchester United Football Club will not play this weekend as a mark of respect for the late HM Queen Elizabeth II, with the football calendar being cleared.
The next time the Red Devils take to the field will be this Thursday in the Europa League, but the hard work behind the scenes continues.
Although the transfer window has now closed, players can still leave on loan, which is exactly what Matej Kovar did.
The club confirmed yesterday that the 22-year-old star had signed a new Reds contract before agreeing to join Sparta Prague on loan before the Czech transfer deadline.
Kovar has been rewarded with a new three-year contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2025. This alone says everything about the Reds’ faith in the young Czech shot-stopper.
Kovar needs to be playing regular football at this point in his career. There is no way past David de Gea or Martin Dubravka at the moment, so going somewhere that performs consistently is the logical option.
Kovar will be at ease in his homeland while also eager to make an impression before returning to Manchester as a much better player next summer.
This loan move will undoubtedly benefit Kovar greatly before he joins Erik ten Hag’s senior squad for pre-season in about ten months.
Matej, best wishes! We hope to see you back here soon!
