Manchester United will compete against several European clubs for the signing of SL Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos. This emerges from the Portuguese news agency JN via The Sun (h/t Metro).
Erik ten Hag is keen to bring a number nine to the club and the 21-year-old has been identified as a potential target to bring to the club once the January transfer window opens.
But the Red Devils will fight over his signature. Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United are said to be interested in the Portuguese striker.
The current options in the front end department just aren’t enough. Anthony Martial has been out injured for most of this season and Marcus Rashford has replaced him up front.
Cristiano Ronaldo has only started one Premier League game so far and he doesn’t seem like a very reliable option for Ten Hag. A new number nine is needed to add depth and Ramos fits that bill.
Ramos has been in fine form this season. The 21-year-old has scored eight goals in 12 appearances for the Portuguese club in all competitions. Standing at 6ft 1in, the striker could be the perfect target for United.
Benfica will consider offers of around £35m
