Lille striker Jonathan David has stated that he would welcome a move to the Premier League, amid reports that Arsenal is interested in a deal.
After scoring 19 goals last season, the 22-year-old has nine in 12 appearances this season in France.
He was on the radar over the summer, but with Mikel Arteta desperately trying to secure a deal for Gabriel Jesus, a firm move for David never materialized from the Gunners, and they abandoned their attempts to sign him.
However, there has been persistent speculation that they are still interested in signing the gifted striker, as Mikel Arteta understands the importance of having two top-class strikers in his attack.
The Canada international has three years left on his contract at Lille, but David admits that if an offer comes in, he will take it seriously.
‘The next step is always growing, having more ambition, possibly a bigger club,’ he said to Sky Sports.
‘Everyone wants to play for a big club at some point in their lives. So, if given the opportunity, I would definitely take it.’
When asked if he would be happy playing in both the Premier League and La Liga, he replied, ‘I think they’re two different leagues.’ But I believe I can adapt to both.
