Arsenal have received a significant boost in their pursuit of Wilfred Zaha in the upcoming transfer window.
The Ivory Coast international’s five-year contract with Palace expires next summer, and there has been much speculation about where he will play next season.
Mikel Arteta wants to add more goals to Arsenal’s attack, and the fact that the club will be able to sign Zaha for less than £80 million means he could come cheap.
According to the Daily Mail, despite being verbally offered the most lucrative deal in Palace’s history, negotiations are not going well. Zaha is already the club’s highest earner on a reported £130,000 per week.
With Zaha arguably the greatest player in Palace’s history, such a contract is not unwarranted, but it’s possible that the winger sees this as his last chance to join a top team, with his 30th birthday just around the corner.
If you believe Iomie Stanley, he would definitely sign that contract offer from Arsenal if it arrived.
‘Palace are a decent side, but Zaha will never reach his full potential at the club because he is their main man and knows he no longer has to give his all.’
‘We are sure there will be a lot of interest in his services over the next few months – but if Arsenal are willing to splash the cash- he is available.’
