Liverpool desperately needs to strengthen their midfield in the January transfer window, and they are once again linked with Konrad Laimer.
The Reds were looking to sign the Austrian international from RB Leipzig in the summer (90min).
The Merseysiders did, however, sign Arthur Melo on loan. The Brazilian has a poor injury record and is currently on the treatment table.
According to a report published yesterday by Sky Germany, Liverpool are planning an attack to strengthen their midfield in January and are hoping to sign Laimer.
The 25-year-old, who is worth around £26 million (Kicker), will be out of contract in the summer, so Klopp may be able to agree a pre-contract in the winter to sign him for free in July 2023. The German manager, on the other hand, must immediately strengthen the department.
Laimer is a talented midfielder who can also play as a No. 6 if necessary. Last season, the 24-cap international made 43 appearances in all competitions for Leipzig, scoring 11 goals (5 goals and 6 assists).
However, as Arthur pointed out, the main issue with the Austrian is also an injury prone player.
Due to an ankle fracture, the former RB Salzburg player missed the majority of the 2020-21 season.
So far this season, he has only made six appearances across all competitions. He missed the first few games due to an ankle injury and is currently out with a ligament injury (since early September).
To be fair, Liverpool needs a fit and firing midfielder who can make an immediate impact in January to bolster their squad. Should they move in to sign Konrad Laimer, in your opinion?
