According to a report from RMC Sport published today (via Mundo Deportivo), Marco Verratti is yet another player who may leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer as the club prepares for a mass exodus.
According to the report, Verratti prioritises a move to Real Madrid, but the Spanish powerhouse has no plans to sign the Italian as they are instead concentrating on luring Jude Bellingham.
According to the report, Verratti’s initial goal is to travel ‘wherever he goes’ with Lionel Messi. According to the report, Messi and Verratti are seen by PSG fans as being the two main culprits behind the unrest currently roiling the team.
As a result, it is conceivable that both may depart Parc des Princes at the conclusion of the campaign. For his part, Messi has been closely associated with a comeback to Camp Nou. The Argentine’s re-signing is something Barcelona president Joan Laporta has expressed a strong desire to do this summer.
This would suggest that Verratti may also want to join Barcelona if he were to follow Messi. It is not a bad move for either of the two parties from a sporting standpoint.
Following Sergio Busquets’ imminent departure, Barça are actively seeking midfield reinforcements. Ilkay Gundogan has been linked to them, but they may face stiff competition from Arsenal, and Manchester City is also keen to hold onto their star player.
Barcelona, however, is probably unable to afford to pay Verratti’s transfer fee because of the midfielder’s remaining PSG contract, which runs through 2026. Therefore, he would command a high transfer premium.
Verratti might, however, follow Messi if they both wind up in Saudi Arabia. Both players have been linked with moves to Saudi Arabia, with midfielder Marco Verratti appearing to be the most likely to do so in what could be a lucrative deal.
On the other hand, Messi is still emotionally attached to Barcelona and might not want to leave Europe just yet.
