Barcelona will borrow Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid with the intention of acquiring him permanently the following season.
Joao Felix will join Barcelona on a temporary basis, according to Spanish journalist Marc Martinez. An agreement regarding a purchase of the Portuguese international has been reached by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid. Additionally, the Blaugrana will pay a €10 million loan fee, with Atletico Madrid covering 30% of his salary. Barcelona will also pay €50 million to sign him permanently.

Joao Felix joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica four years ago, but his development has been slow. The 23-year-old did not live up to the hype surrounding him when he first joined the Spanish team after being acquired in a nine-figure deal. Additionally, a loan stint with Chelsea during the second half of the 2022–23 campaign was unsuccessful.

The Portuguese international has so far made 31 appearances for his country’s team. In contrast, Felix only scored four goals in 20 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions. His future is also in doubt after returning to Atletico Madrid because, following a few run-ins, Diego Simeone does not have any plans for him. But with Barcelona interested in signing him, the player may have a lifeline.

Felix’s summer transfer was reportedly rejected by Barcelona earlier this year because of the associated costs. They might not have thought about the possibility of signing the youngster on a loan for the 2023–24 campaign, though. Additionally, Atletico Madrid recently authorised Barcelona to sign the player during the current transfer window.

The information was released in response to Felix’s remarks from earlier this week, in which he said Barcelona was his ideal team. Although the 31-cap Portuguese international might not appear to be the best fit for Barcelona’s attack at first glance, Xavi Hernandez finds him to be a desirable candidate because of his versatility.

The 23-year-old is a possibility for the right-wing position. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that Barcelona would be interested in hiring Felix. And the Catalan giants have now decided to loan the player to Atletico Madrid. A €50 million obligation clause is part of the agreement.

Atletico Madrid will cover 30% of Felix’s wages, and Barcelona will also pay a €10 million loan fee. The 23-year-old may be about to join the Catalan club, according to the dependable Manu Sainz. The international player from Portugal will thus soon fulfil his dream of playing for Barcelona.
