This year has not gone as planned for Liverpool.
They did not win the league title last season and are unlikely to do so this season, with Jurgen Klopp’s side already 15 points behind the leaders in the Premier League.
This is the worst start to a campaign for the German tactician since he took over in 2015.
Coincidentally, the club may be about to embark on its most significant period of change since he joined.
Klopp looked set for another successful few years under FSG’s guidance after signing a new contract this year, but the club’s future is now up in the air with reports that the Reds’ owners are looking to sell up.
If that happens, a lot of money could be brought to Anfield, with no doubt a lot of wealthy businessmen and women looking to see if they have enough money to make a deal.
If a mega-rich new owner does arrive in Merseyside, we could see some exciting transfer activity similar to that seen at Manchester City and Newcastle.
That is not to say that a Saudi-led consortium will be relocating to Liverpool anytime soon, but there have been rumors of Middle Eastern involvement with the city.
If that occurs, Liverpool will need to act quickly in the transfer market, but who could they sign? Here are three players Football FanCast believes any new owners should prioritize.
Jamal Musiala
The Bayern Munich starlet has been mentioned in some circles as Liverpool’s replacement for Jude Bellingham next season, and if they can entice him to Anfield, it will be a huge signing.
However, they may have to pay around £140 million to get their man, a deal that would obviously be more attainable if free-spending owners arrived.
Musiala can play in a variety of positions, including center forward, attacking midfield, and out on the wing.
Frenkie de Jong
Liverpool’s midfield woes are well documented, but Klopp has the potential to unearth one of the Premier League’s most frightening duos in De Jong and Musiala.
While Musiala is a more offensive threat, De Jong is a metronome who can dictate play from deep while also getting involved in attacks.
The subject of recent interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, it would be the most exciting signing for any fan, with the prospect of beating their rivals to a top target no doubt appealing.
James Milner, Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, and Thiago are all aging assets, while Naby Keira cannot be relied on in terms of fitness. As a result, signing a midfielder in January should be considered.
Mykhaylo Mudryk
Mudryk, who appears to be linked with every man and his dog right now, would be a fantastic signing for any new owner looking to replace Sadio Mane.
The Ukrainian winger has been linked with not only Liverpool, but also Arsenal and Newcastle, who appear set to battle it out with Shakhtar Donetsk until 2023.
Darijo Srna, one of the world’s fastest players, once stated, “After Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, he’s the best player in Europe in his position.”
The 21-year-old, who can play on either wing, would add depth to a squad that already includes Salah, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, and Luis Diaz.
