Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on Arsenal’s efforts to sign Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk on a transfer.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move for the Ukrainian in recent weeks, and a bid for him was even rejected.
The bid was reportedly worth £55 million, with Shakhtar reportedly looking for around £85 million for the 21-year-old, who has been praised by members of the media for his “stunning” efforts in the Champions League this season.
With the January transfer window rapidly approaching, a significant update on the north London club’s pursuit of Mudryk has emerged.

On Thursday morning, Romano tweeted some new comments from Shakhtar CEO Sergei Palkin about the negotiations between Shakhtar and Arsenal over Mudryk.
“Now, literally in 5 minutes, I’ll be on the phone with Arsenal about the Mykhaylo Mudryk deal.”
Romano added these additional comments from the Shakhtar owner in a subsequent post.
“Mudryk talks are ongoing. We get offers, but not the ones we want to see on our table. I’ll speak with Arsenal again, and yes, we are willing to discuss fees and ideas. Let it be so if we both agree. If we don’t, there will be another time.”

Despite suffering an initial setback in their pursuit of the winger when their opening bid was rejected, the fact that the Gunners have not given up on signing him and have been in talks with Palkin once more demonstrates how eager Edu and Mikel Arteta are for this deal.
