According to today’s Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea has become a ‘option’ for Real Madrid’s lvaro Odriozola in the summer.
Last season, the fullback was only able to play 92 minutes over six games. He reportedly wants to leave Los Blancos and rejoin Real Sociedad with a year left on his contract.
The 27-year-old is also desired by La Real, but on a free transfer. Given that the Madrid club spent €32m to secure his services in 2018, this wouldn’t be simple.
According to reports, Chelsea and Athletic Club Bilbao are among the clubs who have ‘taken an interest’ in the situation of the Spain international.
The newspaper continues, without specifying whether Carlo Ancelotti’s team or the player were contacted, that both the Blues and the Basque club have “asked about” him.
According to Mundo, the Spanish powerhouses aren’t in a rush to decide on Odriozola’s future and are instead concentrating on introducing their newest acquisition, Jude Bellingham, later this week and finding a Karim Benzema replacement.
Odriozola is currently leaning towards returning to Real Sociedad, so if Chelsea wants to sign him in the summer transfer window, they will need to persuade him otherwise.
