Fabrizio Romano has advised supporters to keep an eye on one potential signing despite Manchester United’s slow start to the summer transfer market.
With David De Gea’s future still up in the air, Andre Onana is the newest custodian to be mentioned as a potential transfer target to Old Trafford.
The Cameroon goalkeeper’s former coach at Ajax, Erik ten Hag, has reportedly been contacted by United about a potential reunion, according to Romano.

For his performances this season at Old Trafford, David de Gea has drawn a lot of flak.
The contract for the Spanish custodian expires this summer, and there has been no word of a mutually agreed-upon new deal.
United will need to find a new starting custodian if De Gea decides to leave the team.

Romano updated followers on the potential custodian search for Man United on his YouTube channel.
“There is a chance that United will keep De Gea and sign a second custodian to add competition, or perhaps they will sign a new first-choice custodian,” Romano said.
“So, if they let David de Gea go, we need to keep an eye on Andre Onana,” the coach said.
“It’s also true that Manchester United has looked into the terms of the Andre Onana deal from the player side. Man United are therefore aware of the circumstance, and Onana has long had a relationship with Erik ten Hag. Onana is valued at about €60 million (£51 million) by Inter.

Onana recently received high praise from Man City manager Pep Guardiola in advance of the Champions League final.
Due to his skill with the ball in his feet, which could work well in the system Erik ten Hag wants to use, Pep designated Onana as Inter’s most crucial player.

For Inter, Onana had a fantastic season, giving up just 24 goals in as many Serie A games. He may be a worthy successor if De Gea decides to leave Old Trafford.
