Romeo Lavia of Southampton is a transfer target for Chelsea this summer, which worries rival club Arsenal.
According to journalist Miguel Delaney, that is the case.
Romeo Lavia will reportedly be sold by Southampton, who were demoted from the Premier League last season, according to a lot of transfer rumours in the media.
Last week, The Independent reported that Arsenal was outbidding Chelsea, Manchester United, and Liverpool for the right to sign Lavia.
According to journalist Simon Phillips’ Substack report, Chelsea might be prepared to pay the £50 million asking price for the Southampton midfielder.
Delaney’s newsletter for The Independent claims that Chelsea are’seriously involved’ in the pursuit of Lavia in the transfer market.
It is stated that Arsenal had been considered the favourites to sign the 19-year-old Belgian talent, but they are wary of the fact that the player has a close bond with someone at Stamford Bridge. Joe Shields, the director of recruitment for Chelsea, who formerly worked at St. Mary’s and assisted in Lavia’s signing with Southampton last year, appears to have a close relationship with Lavia.
Additionally, Liverpool is still considering the young defensive midfielder as a possibility.
Lavia, in our opinion, could be a great addition to the Chelsea team, especially given the current exodus of midfielders from the organisation.
Another ball-winning midfielder linked to the Blues is Moises Caicedo of Brighton, age 21.
In our opinion, there is ample space for both Caicedo and Lavia to be signed in the same window.
