According to Graeme Bailey, Ryan Gravenberch is the midfielder Liverpool is most interested in signing.
Bailey was discussing which midfielder the Reds will sign this summer on the Chasing Green Arrows Podcast, and he claims that Gravenberch and Khephren Thuram are the two they are most interested in.
Bailey made the interesting observation that Manu Kone is a fallback option in the event that neither of these deals goes through.
Bailey revealed what he knows about the £17 million midfielder to Gravenberch.
Yes, Gravenberch is the one; I believe they are very, very interested in him. I believe Kone is the backup, and he and Thuram are the main two present. They have previously expressed interest in Gravenberch, and I believe he would be an excellent acquisition. As for Man United, I’m genuinely surprised they haven’t made a move for him, Bailey said.
Can they capture him?
The idea of bringing Gravenberch to Anfield this summer appears to have Liverpool smitten, but it won’t be that simple as usual.
Indeed, Gravenberch will not be sold this summer, according to Bayern Munich, and to be completely honest, we can’t really fault the Bavarians for that.
It’s absurd for Bayern to give up on a player with such a high ceiling so soon after only signing him last summer at the age of 20.
Gravenberch, as Bailey points out, would be fantastic for any club, and Bayern would be foolish to give up on him before giving him that much of an opportunity to demonstrate his abilities in the Bundesliga.
