Adama Bojang, a young striker, is being pursued by Manchester United this summer as Erik ten Hag looks to expand his attacking options.
What has changed regarding Adama Bojang’s transfer to Manchester United?
Manchester United is one of the clubs currently showing interest in Gambia talent Adama Bojang, according to Fabrizio Romano, who shared an update on the 19-year-old on Twitter.
Bojang, who is regarded as a huge talent, is being actively pursued by RB Leipzig and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Ten Hag is also interested in Mason Mount this summer, and even though United’s third offer for the Chelsea player was rejected, it might not be long before a deal is reached.
Could Adama Bojang take Anthony Martial’s place at Manchester United?
Prioritising improving United’s attacking options ahead of the upcoming campaign makes sense, especially in light of the fact that only two teams in the top half of the standings scored fewer goals than them in 2022–23, which may have prevented them from mounting a sustained Premier League title challenge. In total, the Red Devils scored 58 goals, 36 fewer than champions Manchester City.
Martial had just six league goals, and statistics showing that he was second in missed big chances (eight) and only sixth in shots per game (1.3) suggest that he was not very effective in front of goal.
He has just a year left on his £250,000 per week contract, so Ten Hag might have to sell him this summer for a bargain price to get him off the payroll. However, a lot will depend on whether he can sign another top-tier forward.
Bojang isn’t quite in the same league as targets like Rasmus Hojlund and Victor Osimhen, but because of his fierce playing style and speedy 6 foot 3 height, the starlet has earned the moniker “Gambian Hurricane.”
He currently plays for Steve Biko FC in Gambia, but his best performances have come on the international stage, where he scored six goals in just eight matches for the Gambia U20 team. He also proved his pedigree by scoring a stunning hat-trick against Sudan in the U20 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinals.
He added to his growing reputation by scoring twice in four U20 World Cup games. Antonio Mango, a U23 scout, recently praised him as having “insane talent,” suggesting that he might be a great addition for Ten Hag.
There is no reason why he can’t beat Martial at the Old Trafford team given his talent, which suggests he could be successful in England.
