According to media reports, Manchester United are close to signing Sporting CP center half Goncalo Inacio.

We reported last night (via The Mirror) that the Red Devils are in pole position to sign the youngster during the summer transfer window. An update from Portugal today suggests that a Man United offer is imminent.

According to A Bola, Manchester United is leading Newcastle United to sign the 20-year-old defender. The 20-time English champions have a strategy to persuade the Liga Nos side, and an offer is expected.

Man United are aware that the Lions will only sell their valuable asset if the release clause of £38.5 million (45 million euros) is activated, according to the renowned media outlet.

According to reports, the Premier League club could offer 40 million euros in cash and the remaining 5 million euros in add-ons to meet the Jose Alvalade outfit’s demand.

Despite having spent millions on defenders such as Bailly, Lindelof, Varane, Maguire, Telles, Shaw, Dalot, and Wan-Bissaka over the years, Manchester United’s backline has been highly criticized.

Ten Hag will need plenty of time to clean up the mess and restore glory days, and the Dutch manager must be adequately supported in the transfer window.

Who, in your opinion, should Manchester United sign to bolster their defense?
