According to reports, Manchester United is considering competing for Kylian Mbappe of Paris Saint-Germain.
Mbappe might be acquired by Manchester United this summer.
In preparation for Erik ten Hag’s second season as manager, the Red Devils seem to be looking for a new star striker this summer.
Since there aren’t enough center-forward options for the team, Anthony Martial—one of 13 players up for sale—might even be sold in the upcoming months.
Mbappe has been mentioned as a player, and a sensational transfer for the PSG forward is reportedly in the works by potential new owner Sheikh Jassim.
Jassim believes Mbappe “belongs” at Old Trafford, but the Qatari group is still waiting to hear whether the Glazers will accept their takeover offer. Regardless of who is in charge of United, there has been another update regarding Mbappe, as the forward is entering the final year of his PSG contract.
The Sun provided an update on Mbappe’s future, claiming any club looking to sign him in the near future will have to shell out at least £250 million, shattering the current Old Trafford transfer record.
Along with Liverpool and Real Madrid, Manchester United is mentioned in the report, and it claims that the Red Devils are thinking about engaging in a transfer-related bidding war. However, it also states that the ongoing ownership issues at Old Trafford may make it difficult for them to conduct business at that level.
Has Kyllian Mbappe ever scored a goal against Manchester United?
Mbappe, who has been dubbed “electric” by journalist Matt Lawton, is a household name who has helped PSG score an incredible 310 goals in 260 games. The 24-year-old France international has scored 40 goals in 70 games for his nation, including a hat-trick in the World Cup final the previous year.
You can see why the forward would command such a high price and why Jassim would want to bring him to Manchester, possibly winning over supporters right away, should a takeover go through.
Mbappe has faced United four times in the Champions League, twice winning and twice losing. At Old Trafford during the 2018–19 season, he scored his first goal against the Red Devils. Who knows, if a transfer proceeds quickly, he might be looking to score frequently in Manchester.
