According to journalist Matt Law, Mauricio Pochettino, the manager of Chelsea, and his staff are very eager to work with Conor Gallagher.
He said on the “London is Blue” podcast that the new manager thinks the midfielder has many qualities he can use, despite the possibility that the player leaves the club.
Due to the high value he commands on the transfer market, many people anticipated that Gallagher would be among the first names to leave this summer.
He received a sizable offer back in January, and several Premier League teams would profit from having the England international in their lineup.
Law, however, asserted that Pochettino concurred that Chelsea would gain from keeping Gallagher.
Pochettino desires to collaborate with Gallagher.
Conor is a unique circumstance, he said. I’ve been told by Poch and his staff that Conor has a lot of qualities they can use and that they’re really excited about, so it’s one to keep an eye on throughout the summer.
“However, I’m also informed that it’s still possible that a very strong offer for Conor might be taken into consideration, particularly if by that time they had brought in a Caicedo or someone else.
Of course, Conor’s wishes and Chelsea’s incomings may also be relevant to this. Consequently, I believe that’s a really interesting one to watch because it could go either way. He might be Pochettino’s pet project.
This summer, the Blues have already lost several important midfield players. Mateo Kovacic and N’golo Kante have already agreed to leave Stamford Bridge.
It would be advised that they hold onto Gallagher for at least the first half of next season unless they sign at least two big names for the position.
