According to rumours, Manchester City will demand the same high price for Bernardo Silva as West Ham United did for Declan Rice.
Jack Gaughan, who is worth £43 million (according to BBC Sport), said recently that he is still unsure of his future.
Following Wednesday’s report by journalist David Ornstein that Declan Rice and Arsenal had reached an agreement, Manchester City might demand a similar price to offload Bernardo Silva.
The 28-year-old Bernardo Silva, who the Guardian dubbed “elite,” demonstrated once again last season why he is still one of the best players in the world, particularly by winning the Champions League. Jack Gaughan: Manchester City may demand Declan Rice’s fee in order to sell Bernardo Silva.
Pep Guardiola said that the Portuguese international is right up there with one of the best players he has ever seen, despite coaching some of the greatest footballers to ever play the game.
Now, Jack Gaughan has reported that Manchester City will use the £105 million fee that West Ham is expected to receive from the sale of Declan Rice “as a gauge” as suitors look to sign Bernardo Silva in the summer.
After all, the club believes that, like the Englishman, the five-time Premier League champion’s contract expires in 2025, whereas the former had a clause in his contract that allowed him to extend it by a further year.
Manchester City must not falter in any way.
In the end, Manchester City’s reasoning makes sense because, despite Declan Rice being a fantastic player, Bernardo Silva has consistently outperformed him for years.
Rice was also in the final year of his contract, so Arsenal is about to make him the most expensive British player in history.
With two years left and having contributed significantly to one of the greatest teams in history while also being a consistently elite player, Bernardo must demand at least as much money as other elite players.
