According to Sky Sports, Arsenal may consider adding a second central midfielder and a new right-sided attacker this summer.
How much money has Arsenal spent so far this season?
Prior to the 2023–24 season, the Gunners and Mikel Arteta have been active in the transfer window in an effort to advance in the Premier League.
In a £65 million deal, the club acquired Kai Havertz from Chelsea, while Jurrien Timber relocated to north London from Ajax for £38 million.
Following the acquisition of Declan Rice, Arsenal’s summer spending will increase to £103 million. The English international has officially left West Ham and is on his way to join Arsenal in a deal worth a guaranteed £100 million plus $5 million in add-ons, according to the club.
However, with a transfer update appearing in the previous 48 hours, there might still be more to come at the Emirates. According to Dharmesh Sheth, a reporter for Sky Sports, Arsenal’s focus will now be on departures because of the money they have spent recently.
A new right-sided attacker and another central midfielder, however, may be deals to watch out for before the transfer window closes, according to the dependable reporter.
“Once the Rice and the Timber deals are finalised, the emphasis will be on departures simply because they have likely already spent close to £200 million.
“But I believe Arsenal will attempt to look at the right-sided attacking position. Just keep an eye on that since they have been concentrating on it over the last few transfer windows.
“And perhaps also on the central midfielder area. Granit Xhaka has left, but Declan Rice is about to enter, so I know that. However, if Thomas Partey were to conceivably depart, as we are aware that there is considerable interest. Arsenal might consider hiring there as well, but right now it is just at the interest stage. If that were to develop, though.
Arsenal may sign additional players.
Given that they have already spent more than £200 million this summer, Arsenal may decide to let players leave before adding new players, as Sheth points out. However, some players, like Gremio central midfielder Bitello, have been mentioned as potential additions to Arteta’s team.
According to reports, Arsenal is “actually moving seriously” to sign Bitello, and the team reportedly has representatives in Brazil who are “analysing and sending an offer” to sign the 23-year-old.
Ferran Torres of Barcelona has been mentioned in connection with the Gunners as an attacker. The La Liga champions would agree to any short-term contract for the forward, and it is thought that Arsenal would be open to signing him on loan. Torres and Arteta previously collaborated at Manchester City, so developments involving the Spaniard and Bitello may be ones to watch in the coming weeks. However, some players might need to be let go first, so Edu and company may still have a busy few weeks in the market.
