According to The Sun, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has removed five players from the first-team dressing room at the team’s training facility to make place for incoming summer additions.
Ten Hag has had to move as many as five first-team players after the summer spending binge. The Red Devils currently have a capacity of 24 players to occupy the locker rooms at the AON training complex.
With more than 11 years of service, Phil Jones is currently one of the club’s longest-tenured players. Along with Brandon Williams, he was one of those that were shuffled down to the passage leading to the Under-23 dressing room.
The other three players were made to change positions because Ten Hag prioritized his summer acquisitions over players who could soon be leaving the team. These players were Axel Tuanzebe, Teden Mengi, and the intriguing Shola Shoretire.
Jones stated his desire to play frequently earlier this year, so it surprised us that he decided to remain with the team. His contract might have been mutually canceled, but the Red Devils were content to keep him.
Williams and Tuanzebe, however, were both heavily favored to leave Old Trafford prior to the deadline, but it appears that Ten Hag opted to obstruct their departures in light of injuries to players like Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
Thus, the trio will remain with the Red Devils until the new year unless they are open to considering offers from teams in countries like Turkey, Greece, and Belgium where the summer transfer window is still open.
