Liverpool were closely linked to the Algerian international and AC Milan star Ismael Bennacer in the summer transfer window, but in the end the player remained loyal to the San Siro team.

According to the latest media reports, the Reds are ready to offer a lucrative deal to secure the signing of the African midfielder.

Last month, the well-known Corriere dello Sport reported that Merseysiders’ interest in Bennacer has left Milan in panic that the player’s contract, which expires in 2024, is really looking to renew.

Furthermore, La Gazzetta Dello Sport has revealed that the Anfield club is waiting for the right time to take on the services of the 24-year-old, who has a € 50m (£ 43.7m) release clause.

According to Claudio Raimondi of Sport MediaSet (via Milan News), the Rossoneri have been in talks lately to conclude a new deal with Bennacer. The AFCON 2019 champion currently earns around € 1.7 million per year and AC Milan came with an offer of € 3 million per year but was rejected.

The former Empoli star is reportedly looking for a new contract worth € 4 million a year, terms agreed by Liverpool to finalize his signing.

The 39-capped international is a key member of Stefan Piolio’s squad who won the Serie A title last season and the seven-time European champions don’t want to lose their precious resource.

Do Liverpool need to strengthen their midfield division, agree terms and pay £ 43.7m to finally sign Ismael Bennacer?
