Benjamin Pavard, a defender for Bayern Munich, has reportedly informed the Bavarians that he wants to quit the team and has just made himself available to FC Barcelona, according to Sky Germany.

On June 30, 2024, Pavard’s agreement with the Allianz Stadium will come to an end. As a result of Julian Nagelsmann frequently playing him outside of his usual position this season, there have been persistent rumours that he aspires for a change of scenery.

Nagelsmann was fired, and his replacement Thomas Tuchel occasionally complied with his request to play in central defence rather than at right back, where he also frequently appears, but the World Cup winner reportedly explained his wishes for moving on to the recently crowned Bundesliga champions.

Pavard’s contract has precisely 13 months left, so his sale for a discount this summer might prevent him from leaving on his own in the middle of the next year.

Bayern reportedly set a prior asking price of €35 million ($37.5 million) on the Frenchman, which Barca reportedly thought too high given how little time is left on his contract after expressing interest in the player a few months ago.

However, it has been claimed that in recent weeks, his agent Pini Zahavi, who enjoys a good working connection with Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, has approached the Catalans about a prospective transfer and will work on a potential part swap operation between Barca and Bayern to make a deal happen if necessary, has approached them about a possible transfer.
