Journalist Dean Jones claims that Arsenal could “revisit talks” to sign Moises Caicedo from Brighton this summer.
This summer, who might Arsenal sign?
It appears that manager Mikel Arteta has made strengthening the Gunners’ central midfield area a top priority. Arsenal’s initial offer for West Ham star Declan Rice, which was rejected, is still very much on their minds.
Sporting director Edu is also interested in Ilkay Gundogan as his contract with Man City expires. Gundogan is a three-time champion and a veteran of the Germany national team.
In January, Caicedo, who shone for Brighton during the 2022–2023 Premier League season, was the subject of intense interest from Arsenal. The player even made it known that he intended to leave the Amex.
Instead, the 21-year-old went on to sign a new contract with Brighton, giving them a strong position going into this summer’s transfer window as major clubs like Chelsea show genuine interest.
Also rumoured to be resuming its pursuit of Caicedo is Arsenal, according to reporter Jones, who suggested just that in a column for GiveMeSport.

When asked about their transfer targets, the journalist mentioned Bayer Leverkusen’s Edmond Tapsoba and Marc Guehi of Crystal Palace. Perr Schurrs of Torino and Mohamed Simakan of RB Leipzig are two early targets for the center-back position.
Further expanding, Jones asserts that despite their efforts to sign Rice from West Ham, Arsenal could “revisit talks” to sign Caicedo as well.
Do you know Moises Caicedo?
The South American superstar established himself as a true defensive midfield gem last season, averaging more tackles and interceptions per 90 minutes than any other Brighton player.
Critics in Ecuador view him as their country’s “crown jewel” and the best hope for a new era of national football, and he is also highly regarded in his native country.
In an interview with Het Niuewsblad (via Sport Witness), Ecuadorian football historian Enrico Castro-Montes discussed Caicedo’s potential in great detail.
Castro-Montes claimed that N’Golo Kante and Paul Pogba were compared to him.
The entire pitch is covered by Caicedo. The historian noted that he is significantly more captivating.
There will be a great deal of pressure on Caicedo. La Joya, or the jewel, is his nick name in Ecuador. He truly is regarded as the crown jewel of a new generation in his own nation.
“Caicedo truly possesses all the tools necessary to surpass all other Ecuadorian football greats. Off the ball, he does, in my opinion, have a Kante-like quality to him, but when he’s on it, his flair and technical ability remind me more of Paul Pogba.
He’s like a cross between Kanté and Pogba, according to the locals in Ecuador.
