The most recent information from Gerard Romero indicates that Newcastle United has made an offer for Barcelona winger Raphinha in response to their interest.
According to reports, the Premier League club, which will compete in the UEFA Champions League next year, has submitted a bid for the Brazilian international that includes midfield stalwart Bruno Guimaraes for €30 million.
Raphinha only recently joined Barça, moving there from Leeds United in a deal worth €65 million plus add-ons. After settling into life in Catalonia slowly at first, the 26-year-old developed over time and ended the season as an important player for the La Liga champions.
Raphinha has consistently been linked with a summer exit, despite reports that Barça do not intend to sell him in the summer, given the Blaugrana’s need to offload players.
According to reports, the La Liga champion team might sell the attacker for close to €70 million or even more.
One team that has expressed the most interest in Raphinha is Newcastle United, who have also made an offer for him. According to the report, the Magpies are offering midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, whose market value is €60 million, and €30 million in cash.
Barcelona has been keeping an eye on Guimaraes as a potential Sergio Busquets replacement. His high valuation, however, meant that his signing was never given serious consideration.
It does seem odd that Newcastle United would be willing to sacrifice the Brazilian midfielder given how crucial he is to them in order to obtain Raphinha.
If such an offer is made, Barcelona might be interested in it. It is difficult to believe that the Premier League team would give up one of their best and most crucial players in exchange for the Blaugrana attacker.
