This summer, Manu Kone is less likely to be acquired by Liverpool than Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram.
According to journalist Neil Jones, who provided additional information about Liverpool’s search for new players, as quoted by Give Me Sport.
This summer, Jurgen Klopp has already added one midfielder to his team.
Alexis Mac Allister, a World Cup winner, will join Liverpool in preseason following his £35 million transfer from Brighton.
Liverpool won’t likely stop there when it comes to adding to their midfield, though.
Klopp won’t want to be without options after losing four players who play in the middle of the park already this summer.
This is especially true in light of the fact that players like Thiago Alcantara and Stefan Bajcetic missed significant amounts of the previous season due to injury.
According to Jones, Liverpool is now more likely to pursue Khephren Thuram this summer than Manu Kone.
The under-21 French team is competing in the European Championships with the Nice midfielder.
He has already played for France at the senior level and has excelled in Ligue 1 on the south coast this year.
Thuram will likely be chosen by Liverpool over Kone.
Speaking of Liverpool’s potential transfer activity, Jones stated: “Midfield remains a priority for Liverpool in this summer’s transfer market, even though the signing of Alexis Mac Allister may be complete.
Naturally, Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram have been mentioned. According to my understanding, Thuram is the most likely candidate out of those; based on his description, physique, age, the club he plays for, and the amount of money involved, I believe he is a perfect match.
It is unclear how willing Nice will be to let him go, and I believe the fact that several midfielders appear to be on the verge of leaving this market suggests that Nice may simply be waiting to see how the dominoes fall and what kind of price they can get for him.
Even though there hasn’t been much movement over the past week and a price hasn’t yet been set, Thuram has undoubtedly been identified as someone Liverpool wants, in my opinion.
Thuram is a fantastic addition to Anfield.
Given their need for midfielders, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Liverpool move for Kone later in the transfer window even if they sign Thuram.
A fantastic dribbler, the ‘fantastic’ 22-year-old would give Liverpool another option when switching from defence to attack.
They would create a fantastic double threat of passing and dribbling with Trent Alexander-Arnold, who may also play in midfield.
Khephren Thuram frequently creates opportunities for his teammates while also being able to play strong defence.
