Xavi wants World Cup winner Paulo Dybala, 29, to join the Barcelona team after an outstanding season with AS Roma.
Paulo Dybala will be available to Xavi next season, according to a report by the Spanish outlet Fichajes. The 29-year-old is available at AS Roma, and Barcelona’s manager is pushing the Blaugrana to sign him. Due to a contract release clause, the World Cup winner will only cost €12 million during the summer transfer window.
Paulo Dybala has had a turbulent ride so far in his professional career. The international from Argentina was once one of the most sought-after players on the market. But after a few unsuccessful campaigns, his standing has declined, despite the fact that he improved it during his first campaign with AS Roma.
In 48 games, the 29-year-old had a hand in 26 goals, scoring 18 times and dishing out eight assists. The seasoned attacker was also a member of Argentina’s team when La Albiceleste won the FIFA World Cup in 2022. But with Roma’s failure to make the UEFA Champions League, Dybala’s future is uncertain. And Barcelona might be his next stop.
Barcelona had been interested in re-signing Lionel Messi this summer through a Bosman deal. But as he closes out his illustrious career, their former captain has chosen to sign with Inter Miami. So, as they look to strengthen their first-team roster, Barcelona will need to refocus their thinking.
As a result, Dybala’s name has come to the attention of Barcelona, and Xavi Hernandez is a fan of his abilities. According to the report, Xavi is pressuring the Blaugrana to sign the World Cup champion, 29, this summer. And because of how much the AS Roma attacker’s style resembles Messi’s, Barcelona could use him as a target.
Additionally, the Argentine international’s €12 million release clause for foreign clubs makes him a desirable target. The Catalan giants still face serious financial difficulties and are unable to spend a significant amount of money on players. So it makes sense to sign a highly productive player at the height of his game for just €12 million.
The 29-year-old World Cup champion, however, has also been linked to several Premier League teams in recent reports. However, it will be intriguing to see if Xavi can persuade Barcelona to pursue signing Dybala in the upcoming weeks.
