Inigo Martinez and Ilkay Gundogan have now signed pre-contract agreements with Barcelona, who also recently signed Mikayil Faye as part of their ongoing season-long planning.
They don’t appear to be slowing down, though. According to Diario AS, Xavi Hernandez has instructed Barcelona to pursue a move for Argentine international midfielder Giovani Lo Celso as they get closer to signing Vitor Roque.
One player who has been linked to Barcelona in recent weeks is Lo Celso, a Tottenham Hotspur player who spent the previous 18 months on loan at Villarreal. With Xavi’s approval, the move may now be about to happen.
According to the report, Lionel Messi informed Xavi a few years ago that Lo Celso is the best player on the Argentinian national team. Given this, the Barcelona head coach is committed to making it happen.
Lo Celso’s future at the Premier League team appears to be rather bleak, so Spurs is probably open to selling him. Barcelona will attempt to make a deal, but it may hinge on their financial situation and their ability to sign the 27-year-old.
