Ilkay Gundogan has already been acquired by FC Barcelona, but they are still looking for an attacking midfielder. Blaugranes have been attempting to sign the midfielder they are after for the past few years.
The player in question is Bernardo Silva, a Portuguese player who, according to Mundo Deportivo, is awaiting a bid from Barcelona. The player’s agent, Jorge Mendes, and the club’s top decision-makers, Laporta and Xavi, are all said to want to try making a move for the Portuguese superstar, according to the report.
Since Silva arrived in the Barcelona dugout, Xavi has been very fond of him and has been eager to sign him. This time, though, the player is eager to move to Catalonia and fantasises about donning the FC Barcelona jersey. He has forbidden his agents from considering other offers, including those from PSG and Saudi Arabian clubs.
Silva, however, doesn’t want to wait until the very last minute to make a move and anticipates Barcelona to formally approach him soon. The player wants the Catalan giants to act quickly because he has other offers on the table and needs to decide on his future as soon as possible. Moving prior to the transfer deadline would also make it simple for Manchester City to replace him in the summer.
The primary organiser of this operation, Jorge Mendes, recently met with the club and mentioned the possibility of signing the Portuguese player. From there, Xavi was brought on board and agreed with the plan.
Silva has a promise from Guardiola that if a good offer comes in, Manchester City will let him go. Last year, the player was worth €80 million. Barcelona is thinking about taking out a loan with a required purchase option so they can continue to play in La Liga FFP.
But whether the Citizens would accept such an offer is still up in the air. The negotiations would be led by Deco and Alemany, who have worked with Pep Guardiola, Ferran Soriano, and Txiki Begiristain of Manchester City for years.
