According to recent media reports, Liverpool are interested in signing Florentino Luis from Benfica.

We reported a few days ago that the Reds had made contact with the Portuguese midfielder, who had recently agreed to a new contract with a release clause of £104 million.

More recently, Record (via SW) reported that the Merseysiders are interested in the 23-year-old defensive midfielder and have already requested the signing conditions.

According to a reputable Portuguese news source, the 19-time English champions have not yet made a move, but they are considering a possible attack to secure the player.

The Anfield club does require a playmaker who can benefit the club in the long run.

Fabinho has been our main No. 6 for many years, but the former AS Monaco midfielder has struggled this season.

Liverpool were comfortable at the back against Newcastle United last night, until the arrival of the Samba star. The 28-year-old, who is usually rock solid in the DM role, was dribbled past five times and was clearly out of sync.

Henderson, the captain, has also played in the holding midfield position, but he will be 33 next year and is already showing signs of fatigue. The England international has clearly reached the end of his career.

Should Liverpool splash the cash in such a case?
